The Skeleton Dulcimer has been in production since 2011. It's a Hammered Dulcimer with an unique backless design, that has turned out to work rather better than was originally anticipated! I started of making and selling this model as the Skeleton Dulcimer but quite quickly came to an arrangement with Dizzi Dulcimer and then this model was produced exclusively for Dizzi Dulcimer for 9 or 10 years and marketed by her as the Dizzi Signature Dulcimer. Dizzi is now focusing on other things so I am offering the instrument here once again. Constructed from Birch, Ash, Beech and Maple. The 12+12 layout can be looked at in two ways either a standard UK layout or standard US layout with an extra tunable low note D up to G. the bass bridge is played from both sides. The right being two octaves higher giving an extended range of notes. This style had now been copied by some US Dulcimer makers.
The soundhole surround design has been copied from traditional East Anglian instruments. The instrument on the right has a few special details from the standard instrument, but that particulat sound hole design (no actual holes) is the current style. The reason it doesn't actually need a sound hole is that (like a piano) it does not have a enclosed body. This is a different soundhole design to the standard instruments, Harmony, Maestro, etc.
Supplied with 1 pair of double sided hammers, tuning key and introduction booklet.
Also avaliable separately is a Polyester Carry Bag and either a standing or sitting stand
